Paraglider pilot killed in crash west of Albuquerque

Bernalillo County, NM – On September 3, at around 10:00 a.m., the New Mexico State Police were called to a downed aircraft in an open field north of the Route 66 Casino on Interstate 40.

 

The initial investigation indicates that Carl Apodaca, 67, of Albuquerque was piloting his paraglider in the area.  For unknown reasons, the paraglider crashed.  Mr. Apodaca suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this crash.
