WHAT IS THE PT TESTING EVENT?

The New Mexico State Police PT Testing Event is designed to assess the physical fitness of prospective recruits. This event is a critical part of the recruitment process, ensuring that all future officers meet the rigorous physical standards required for the job. The test will evaluate your endurance, strength, agility, and overall fitness — all essential qualities for a career in law enforcement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To pass the PT test, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

1.5-Mile Run:
- 15 minutes and 54 seconds or less if the test location is above 6,000 feet
- 15 minutes and 14 seconds or less if the test location is below 6,000 feet
300-Meter Run: 71 seconds or less
Push-Ups: 15 or more in one minute
Sit-Ups: 27 or more in one minute
