New Mexico State Police Conducts Traffic Operation in Bernalillo County

Bernalillo County- On Thursday, March 11th, 2021, New Mexico State Police Uniform Officers in Albuquerque and the New Mexico State Police Motor Team conducted a traffic safety operation in Bernalillo County.

Officers concentrated on areas near Interstate 25 and Interstate 40. The purpose of the operation was to bring traffic safety awareness to motorists. During the four-hour operation, officers issued a total of 175 various traffic citations. Officers also made two arrests and investigated one crash with injuries.

“One of our missions is to improve the safety of citizens on the roadways,” said Robert Thornton, Chief of the New Mexico State Police. “Our main purpose is to reduce crashes, injuries and prevent fatalities”.

New Mexico State Police will continue to conduct proactive operations like these throughout the year. We encourage the public to drive safely and obey all traffic laws while traveling the roadways of New Mexico.
