New Mexico State Fair one of the safest in years.

Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico State Police make the State Fair a safe and enjoyable experience for the public.

On September 7 through September 17,2023 the New Mexico State Fair brought in hundreds of thousands of visitors looking to have a good time with their friends and family. As always, New Mexico State Police Officers were stationed throughout the fairgrounds to ensure visitors enjoyed their time in a safe environment.

During those two weeks, no vehicles were stolen from the 230 acres of Expo property. State Police did make 4 misdemeanor arrests during the two-week event and parents took proactive measures and stopped by the New Mexico State Police “Tag your Tots” tent. Over 2,900 kids were tagged.

“The New Mexico State Police take great pride in ensuring the State Fair is a safe and enjoyable experience for the public,” said New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler. “My officers worked tirelessly throughout the event to create a safe environment where families and friends could come together and make memories.”

“We’re grateful to the New Mexico State Police, Expo New Mexico’s Safety and Security Staff and other partner agencies for executing a collaborative safety plan to perfection,” said Expo New Mexico General Manager Dan Mourning. “Thanks to this partnership, there were no felony incidents inside the Fairgrounds and only four misdemeanor arrests, making this one of the safest events in the country.”

The New Mexico State Police remain committed to serving and protecting our community, making events like the New Mexico State Fair a true celebration.
