Santa Fe County, NM – On May 25, 2021 at approximately 4:17 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash involving two-vehicles on Interstate 25 near mile marker 288 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The initial investigation shows a 2007 Nissan minivan, driven by Renee Padilla (37) of Mora, NM was travelling north on Interstate 25 near mile marker 288. For reasons that are unknown, the Nissan left the roadway, struck a guard rail, and came rest in the right lane of travel on Interstate 25. A 2003 International semi-truck travelling north on Interstate 25 collided with the Nissan. Padilla was ejected and sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Padilla was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver of the International semi-truck, a forty-five-year-old male was uninjured in the crash.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized.
